Within the memorandum of cooperation signed in September 2019 by the University of Teknologi MARA from Malaysia and the University of Sarajevo, two organizational units, Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies from Malaysia and Faculty of Administration from Sarajevo are implementing and preparing several important activities.
On Wednesday and Thursday, June 16 and 17, 2021, a series of online guest lectures were organized, and these were attended by students and academic staff of the two institutions.
On Wednesday morning, Dr. Nor Hafizah Hj Mohamed Harith gave a lecture within an academic course “Public Policy”. The emphasis of the lecture was on: the concept of public policies, public policies analysis, and public policy process and methodology.
Dr. Aida Abdullah gave a lecture within the academic course “Ethics in Administration”. The emphasis of the lecture was on: the concept and relevance of ethics, the relationship between ethics and profession, ethics in administration and ethics framework.
After these two lectures by Malaysian professors, Dr. Amel Delić gave a lecture within the academic course “Modern Public Administration” for more than 600 Malaysian students, on the topic “Contemporary Challenges in Public Personnel Administration with emphasis to Bosnia and Herzegovina” During the lecture, Dr. Delić presented SIGMA principles of public administration as a globally accepted standard, then the constitutional structure of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after which he presented a detailed analysis of the application of SIGMA principles in the field of human resources management in civil service at all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and made a comparison with other successful models in the world.
On Thursday, Dato Dr. Nasrudin Mohammed gave a lecture within an academic course “Contemporary Public Administration”, in which he presented the political system of Malaysia, as well as issues of traditional public administration, and two models of modern understanding and functioning of administration (New Public Management and New Public Governance).
Later, the same day, a lecture within an academic course “Financial Statement Analysis” was given by Dr. Hjh Memiyanty Hj Abdul Rahim. The focus of the lecture was on: ratio analysis within financial reporting, the necessity of financial management and key measures for the analysis of financial statements, and the analysis of practical examples related to various forms of ratio analysis.
This academic exchange cooperation was successfully completed with a lecture by the Dean of the Faculty of Administration in Sarajevo, Dr. Emir Tahirović. The lecture within the academic course “Public Policy” was held on the topic “Policy implementation”. During the lecture, professor Tahirović emphasized: the concept of policy implementation, policy implementation actors, approach and techniques, followed by control approach, market orientation in the implementation of public policies, and strengths, problems and weaknesses within the policy implementation process, as well as the various conditions for effective implementation of public policies.
The Faculty of Administration, University of Sarajevo would like to express gratitude, once again, to students, deans of faculties, lecturers, other professors and associates who contributed to this series of guest lectures, and especially the persons who participated in the organization of these activities at both partner institutions. We announce that new activities between the two institutions are already being prepared.
